Bulls and Cows: Crack the Four-Digit Code

Four hidden digits, ten guesses and a trail of clues: Bulls and Cows turns a short code into a careful deduction puzzle. In Card Game Nook’s Numbers mode, the computer chooses four different digits from 0 to 9, and a zero may come first. Enter four distinct digits and submit them to learn how close you are. A bull means a correct digit in its correct position; a cow means a digit belongs in the code but sits in a different position. Four bulls solve the puzzle. This is a number-reasoning companion to 2048, not a tile-merging variant. Use each result to separate two questions: which digits are present, and where do they belong? If the hidden code were 4271, a guess of 1234 would earn one bull and two cows. A result of zero bulls and zero cows rules out all four guessed digits. Four cows means the whole set is right but every position must change. Compare new guesses with earlier rows instead of treating the latest score on its own. The feedback counts matches but does not tell you which individual digit earned each match. Click the number pad or type digits on your keyboard. Backspace removes the last digit and Enter submits a complete guess. The notes strip can mark a digit ruled out or confirmed without submitting a guess. Hint fills a combination consistent with the previous feedback; it does not play that combination for you, and the guess count changes only when you submit. Use a hint to study what the existing clues allow rather than expecting it to reveal the answer. New game clears the attempt and gives you a fresh code. The options menu also offers Colours: four positions drawn from six colours, with repeated colours allowed. Each colour has a shape as well, and a code position counts only once when matches are scored. Numbers does not allow repeated digits. The same ten-guess limit applies: solve the code with four bulls, or use the final result to see the answer after ten unsuccessful guesses. The board and its English controls are supplied by Card Game Nook, with a source credit beside the game.

How to Play Bulls and Cows — Card Game Nook? 📔

  • Enter four different digits

In Numbers, choose four digits from 0 to 9. A leading zero is valid; repeated digits are not. Click the keypad or type, then press Enter to submit.
  • Read bulls and cows together

A bull matches both digit and position; a cow matches the digit elsewhere. The two counts narrow the possibilities without naming the matching digits.
  • Keep notes and test a deduction

Mark digits excluded or confirmed in the notes strip. Compare all previous rows before choosing the next combination, and use Hint if you need a compatible candidate.
  • Solve within ten guesses

Four bulls win. After ten unsuccessful guesses the code is revealed. New game resets the board; the menu switches between Numbers and Colours.

Why Play Bulls and Cows — Card Game Nook? 🏆

Turn an empty result into useful information

Zero bulls and zero cows exclude the four tested digits. Do not spend later guesses bringing those digits back without a reason.

Separate the set from its order

When bulls plus cows total four, every chosen digit belongs in the code. Focus on positions instead of replacing those digits with new ones.

Check the whole history

A combination that fits the newest result may contradict an earlier row. Test each planned guess against all the feedback before committing it.
